Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Health Advisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and transmitting medical records from assigned schools to the Central Health office, creating and updating school health records, establishing and maintaining working relationships with school personnel, and ensuring that students' equipment is functioning and properly used.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and transmit medical records from assigned schools to the Central Health office
  • Create and update school health records
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with school personnel
  • Ensure that students' equipment is functioning and properly used
  • Transcribe medical information as received and assist self-directed students with their own medication
  • Document observations on the Medication Logs and students' medical records
  • Perform simple first aid
  • Participate in agency-wide activities for Emergency Preparedness
Requirements:
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by twelve semester credits in health education or in health, social or biological sciences
  • Or a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, and six months of full-time satisfactory experience in a health promotion or disease intervention/prevention program
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of DOHMH and DOE personnel policies and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
