Public Health Advisor, Bureau of School Health

The City of New York's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a skilled Public Health Advisor to join their team in the Bureau of School Health.
This role will involve collecting and transmitting medical records from assigned schools to the Central Health office, creating and updating school health records, and ensuring that students' equipment is functioning properly.
The ideal candidate will have a baccalaureate degree in health education or a related field, and at least one year of experience in a health promotion or disease intervention/prevention program.
As a Public Health Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting the health and well-being of New York City's students and families.
Responsibilities will include:
- Collecting and transmitting medical records from assigned schools to the Central Health office
- Creating and updating school health records
- Ensuring that students' equipment is functioning properly
- Transcribing medical information as received
- Assisting self-directed students with their own medication
- Documenting observations on the Medication Logs and students' medical records
- Performing simple first aid
- Participating in agency-wide activities for Emergency Preparedness
