Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountable for adhering to TRC's Core Values: Leadership, Excellence, and Accountability, which include Safety, Integrity, Our People, Our Clients, Financial Performance, Innovation, and Effective Communication.

Evaluate project survey needs and contribute to the formulation of a comprehensive plan for executing the necessary activities to fulfill those needs.

The -Execution Plan- should encompass a detailed description of the work scope, a timeline outlining key tasks for activity completion, a budget estimating costs, an organizational chart depicting personnel management structure, a list of required office space and equipment, key objectives, necessary permits or milestones, and external inputs needed for task completion, along with documentation protocols for recording survey activities and managing changes in work scope, safety, emergency response, and quality assurance.
Responsible for effectively implementing project -Execution Plans-, which includes managing work scope, updating project schedules, overseeing budgets, and supervising project personnel.
Request the assignment of personnel (by classification and number) and equipment essential for conducting the required survey activities.
Provide orientation to survey personnel regarding TRC Values, safety protocols, survey policies, and project timelines. Assign tasks to each survey team member and clarify documentation requirements. Ensure survey personnel are equipped to perform their designated tasks. Monitor their performance, documentation completion, conduct, work ethics, and interactions with others. Oversee overall survey tasks to ensure compliance with project specifications. Identify any changes in work scope, deviations in scheduled completion, or budgetary variances.

Implement necessary actions to accommodate work changes while striving to maintain progress schedules and budgetary constraints. Document any required adjustments in schedules and budgets resulting from changes in work scope.

Review survey data for thoroughness and precision.
Maintain documentation control and filing systems to ensure efficient storage and retrieval of project documents, records, and reports.
Foster open communication with the Project Manager, Survey Director, and Client Representative to report on survey progress, address issues, and propose solutions to challenges affecting project completion.
Ensure the review of all survey personnel time and expense reports for thoroughness, accuracy, and approval.
At project conclusion, oversee the preparation and submission of comprehensive documentation for all survey activities performed, compiling it into a project completion package for the Survey Director / Client Representative.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role serves as the manager and supervisor for survey personnel assigned to a project. On larger projects, the individual will oversee survey coordinators assigned to the job. Responsible for the overall management of project survey activities, personnel performance evaluations, and project orientation related to survey tasks. Identify negative trends, address issues, and implement solutions to mitigate adverse impacts on overall project survey performance.

Qualifications

Requirements:
High School Diploma

Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) certification in Texas or New Mexico is essential.
Bachelor's Degree in Land Surveying, Cartography, or related Land Information Sciences is preferred.
A minimum of ten years of surveying experience, including prior supervisory roles.
Proficient in cross-country pipeline surveying methods.
Familiarity with Global Positioning Systems (GPS) survey techniques, electronic data collection, and the software necessary for survey data analysis and mapping.

Licensing:
Must hold a Registered Professional Land Surveyor license in California.
Physical Demands:

Must be capable of walking several miles daily, often in challenging terrain, to supervise field activities.

Work Environment:
Outdoor settings.

Must be able to perform job duties across various terrains, including swamps, deserts, forests, and mountains, and endure extreme weather conditions, from -10 degrees with snow to 110 degrees in desert heat.

May encounter various plants (such as poison ivy, oak, and sumac) and wildlife including bears, snakes, spiders, insects, and other creatures.

Compensation:

In accordance with local regulations, the salary range for this position is applicable based on the job and location associated with this requisition.

Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Additional Compensation:

Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program, which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators that vary by year and employee.
