Senior Land Surveyor

The American Society of Plumbing Engineers is seeking a highly motivated and experienced leader to manage and oversee the Land Surveying Section of the organization.

Job Summary

The Senior Land Surveyor is responsible for leading a team of over 15 professionals in Land Surveying, overseeing annual budget preparations, and providing budget briefings to the Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plans and manages the work of professionals in Land Surveying.
  • Oversees survey support services for Capital Improvement Projects and other departmental land and boundary surveys.
  • Oversees production and online management of maps and other survey records for public use.
  • Provides assistance to Planning & Development Services for Subdivision Map Act Reviews.
  • Reviews Records of Survey, Corner Records, Certificates of Correction and Subdivision Map Exclusions.
  • Oversees customer service counter for members of the public and internal customers.
  • Acts as the Ex-Officio Land Surveyor.
  • Oversees maintenance of vertical and horizontal control network.
  • Oversees Survey Monument Preservation program and administration of funds.
  • Acts as an expert witness on behalf of the organization.
Requirements
  • Five years of experience in land surveying, including at least two years of management or supervision.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or certified foreign studies equivalency.
  • Current State of California licensure as a Land Surveyor or a Civil Engineer license authorized to practice land surveying.
Notes

A master's degree or higher degree may substitute for a total of one year of experience and cannot be applied to the required one year of supervision.

Qualifying experience will include CAO Staff Officer or Project Manager experience that involves leading projects.
