Position Overview:
The Senior Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in acquiring intricate components while fostering effective communication with a diverse range of suppliers. This position collaborates cross-functionally within the organization to address component challenges, cost analysis, invoicing inquiries, new material requirements, receiving inspections, and engineering change orders (ECOs). The Senior Procurement Specialist is also tasked with enhancing supplier on-time delivery, optimizing raw material turnover, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement standard procurement processes and strategies, focusing on optimizing the procure-to-pay cycle.
  • Support strategic initiatives related to supplier demand forecasting, capacity planning, inventory management, and procurement transactions.
  • Oversee supplier on-time delivery (OTD) metrics, maintain data integrity, and evaluate performance against key indicators such as overdue purchase orders and invoice resolutions.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Strategic Sourcing team to identify key suppliers that align with business and corporate goals.
  • Propose cost-saving strategies, including make-versus-buy assessments, alternative sourcing options, and vendor evaluation criteria.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels using the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) methodology.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues that may hinder material deliveries.
  • Coordinate ECO activities with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Manage requisitions for major purchased items and ensure timely processing of components sourced externally.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Utilize creative problem-solving techniques to address challenges within the scope of responsibility.
  • Act as a SAP Super User within the designated functional area.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or 5 years of experience in Supply Chain within a similar environment.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, planning, or related roles in a manufacturing setting.
Preferred Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to manage shifting deadlines and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong skills in problem-solving, contract negotiation, and project management.
  • Excellent project management and analytical capabilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP/Oracle).
  • Certifications such as APICS or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM).
  • Prior experience with SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively and manipulate objects or controls. The position involves frequent standing and walking, with occasional requirements to stoop, bend, or reach overhead. The employee may need to lift up to 25 pounds. This role typically involves extensive computer-based work, requiring periods of sitting and close vision. Occasional travel may be necessary.
