Work Schedule: Standard hours (193 days)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive program of study tailored to meet the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Create a supportive classroom environment conducive to learning, reflecting the maturity and interests of students.
  • Prepare lesson plans that accommodate individual learning differences.
  • Maintain organized records of lesson preparations and provide them upon request.
  • Encourage students to uphold classroom behavior standards.
  • Guide the educational process towards achieving curriculum objectives, establishing clear goals for lessons and projects.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional methods and media, considering the physical limitations of the classroom and the needs of students.
  • Strive to embody the educational philosophy and instructional goals of the district.
  • Regularly assess student progress and provide necessary reports.
  • Refer students for evaluation by specialists when necessary.
  • Ensure the safety of students, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policies.
  • Assist in enforcing all policies and regulations governing student conduct.
  • Establish and uphold classroom behavior guidelines fairly.
  • Be available for educational discussions with students and parents as needed.
  • Oversee and evaluate the performance of teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Engage in professional development and attend staff meetings.
  • Foster open communication with students, parents, and community members.
  • Submit lesson plans and maintain grading records in a timely manner.
  • Meet regularly with a mentor teacher if applicable.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

This position involves light physical activity, occasional lifting, and may require participation in evening and weekend events. The role is primarily office-based, involving extended periods at a desk, with moderate travel as necessary.
