GENERAL OVERVIEW

Under the general oversight of the Office Manager, this role involves performing entry-level to routine clerical tasks and is accountable for various administrative responsibilities, customer service, revenue collection, permit sales, and automated campsite registration for Mustang Island State Park. This position serves as a point of contact for public inquiries and is responsible for accounting daily revenue and ancillary product sales.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare reports, manage correspondence, and maintain cleanliness of Headquarters.
  • Operate credit card processing equipment, campsite registration systems, and sales machines.
  • Work under close supervision, with limited latitude for independent decision-making.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned and adhere to all Agency, Division, and Branch regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Completion of 8th grade.

Experience: No prior experience necessary.

Licensure: Must possess or be able to obtain a valid State driver's license within 30 days of employment. Note: Retention of position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining the required license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with general office procedures.
  • Understanding of administrative and clerical processes.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of business terminology and procedures.
  • Competence in using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service in a professional manner.
  • Capability to interact with staff at all levels and various organizations.
  • Skill in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to make independent and timely decisions.
  • Accurate cash handling and revenue accounting skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • Ability to engage with diverse populations.
  • Record-keeping and report preparation skills.
  • Adherence to TPWD safety protocols.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work hours range from 10-40 hours per week, including non-standard hours and days off other than weekends and holidays.
  • Hours may vary during peak season from March to September.
  • This position may alternate between part-time and full-time status throughout employment.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing schedules is required.
  • Outdoor work may be necessary, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
  • Travel may be required, including possible overnight stays.
  • Compliance with agency work rules, safety programs, and dress standards is mandatory.
  • This is a non-smoking work environment.
