Position Overview

Reporting directly to the COO, the Vice President/Director of Government Affairs will play a pivotal role in leading GridMatrix's Government Affairs division and overseeing its daily functions. In this capacity, you will be tasked with articulating and promoting the positive impact of GridMatrix deployments within communities, aligning these benefits with broader regulatory frameworks at the state, local, national, and international levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Public Engagement & Representation:

  • Enhance GridMatrix's connections with leaders and stakeholders across various public agencies and policy organizations.
  • Oversee relationships with government relations partners, transforming networking opportunities into tangible business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multiple Government Affairs teams within GridMatrix's private sector partners, including those in enterprise cloud, transportation data, and LiDAR technology.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to public sector clients regarding available state and federal grant funding.
  • Represent GridMatrix at industry events, participate in panel discussions, and establish a strong presence associated with our innovative solutions.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive government affairs strategy for GridMatrix.
  • Anticipate regulatory changes and assess their implications for commercial and engineering strategies.
  • Identify and brief executive leadership on policy shifts that present commercial opportunities.
  • Spot relevant grants, RFPs, accelerators, and test-bed opportunities.
  • Become the authority on the Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act (IIJA) and competitive grant funding.
  • Illustrate how GridMatrix's offerings align with IIJA funding opportunities and communicate this to public stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the executive and engineering teams to translate RFPs into new product features.

Grant Applications & Compliance:

  • Lead the process for grant applications, RFP submissions, and participation in trade missions and accelerators, coordinating efforts across various teams.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay informed about developments in transportation policy in the US and EU that could affect business revenue and product offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy policies relevant to operational regions, such as GDPR and state-level regulations.

Special Business Operations:

  • Manage certifications for small business, women-owned business, veteran-owned business, etc., to enhance grant and RFP applications.

Project Management:

  • Exhibit a proactive approach to action and adherence to deadlines.
  • Prioritize effective reporting and communication.

People Management:

  • Demonstrate experience in organizational growth, recruitment, and retention of specialized talent.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Advanced degree (MA/JD/PhD) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven track record in leading and expanding a high-impact government affairs team.
  • Strong motivation to contribute to the revitalization of American infrastructure, enhance public safety and equity, and reduce emissions.

  • Background in transportation.
  • Experience working within a public agency.
  • Proficiency in presenting to large audiences.
  • Established personal brand with a history of public policy engagement.
  • Experience in a product-focused technology organization.
