Position Overview

Reporting directly to the COO, the Vice President/Director of Government Affairs will play a crucial role in leading GridMatrix's Government Affairs Organization and managing its daily functions. In this capacity, you will be tasked with articulating and disseminating the significant benefits that a GridMatrix deployment can bring to communities, aligning these advantages with broader regulatory frameworks at state, local, national, and global levels.

This role is designed as a hybrid position, allowing for both remote and in-person work arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

Public Engagement & Representation

  • Enhance GridMatrix's connections with leaders and stakeholders across various public agencies and policy organizations.
  • Oversee relationships with government relations partners, converting networking opportunities into tangible business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multiple Government Affairs teams within GridMatrix's private sector partners.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to public sector clients regarding state and federal grant funding opportunities.
  • Act as a prominent representative for GridMatrix at industry events, participating in panels and discussions.

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive government affairs strategy for GridMatrix.
  • Anticipate and assess how government affairs initiatives influence commercial and engineering strategies.
  • Identify and communicate policy changes that present commercial opportunities to executive leadership.
  • Seek out relevant grants, RFPs, and accelerator opportunities.
  • Become the authority on the Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act (IIJA) and related funding opportunities.
  • Align GridMatrix's product offerings with IIJA funding possibilities and communicate these alignments to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the executive and engineering teams to translate RFPs into actionable product features.

Grant Applications & Compliance

  • Lead the application process for grants, RFPs, and trade missions, coordinating efforts across various teams.
  • Stay informed on transportation policy developments in the US and EU, assessing their potential impact on business operations.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy policies relevant to operational regions.

Project Management & Team Leadership

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to project management, emphasizing deadlines and effective communication.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, supporting cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in a relevant field; advanced degrees (MA/JD/PhD) preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in government affairs.
  • Proven track record in leading high-impact teams.
  • Passionate about enhancing American infrastructure and public safety.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in the transportation sector.
  • Background in public agency operations.
  • Strong presentation skills and experience engaging large audiences.
  • Established personal brand in public policy.
  • Experience in a technology-focused product environment.
