Position Overview

Reporting directly to the COO, the Vice President/Director of Government Affairs will play a pivotal role within GridMatrix's Government Affairs Organization, overseeing its daily functions. This position entails articulating and promoting the transformative effects of GridMatrix's deployments within communities, aligning these impacts with broader regulatory frameworks at various levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Public Engagement & Representation:

  • Enhance GridMatrix's connections with leaders and stakeholders across state, local, national, and international public agencies and private policy organizations.
  • Oversee relationships with government relations partners, translating networking opportunities into tangible business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multiple Government Affairs teams within GridMatrix's private partners, including enterprise cloud and transportation data firms.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to public sector clients regarding available government grant funding.
  • Represent GridMatrix at industry events, participating in panels and establishing a strong presence associated with our solutions.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement GridMatrix's comprehensive government affairs strategy.
  • Anticipate and assess how government affairs strategies influence commercial and engineering initiatives.
  • Regularly brief executive leadership on relevant policy changes and their implications for business opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue grants, RFPs, accelerators, and test-bed opportunities.
  • Become the authority on the Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act (IIJA) and related funding mechanisms.
  • Map GridMatrix's offerings to IIJA funding opportunities and communicate these alignments to public stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with executive and engineering teams to translate RFPs into new product features.

Grant Applications & Compliance:

  • Lead the process for grant applications, RFP submissions, and participation in trade missions, managing cross-functional teams throughout.
  • Stay informed on transportation policy developments in the US and EU, ensuring compliance with privacy policies and cybersecurity regulations.

People Management:

  • Demonstrate experience in organizational growth, including hiring and retaining specialized talent.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and support.
