Job Description

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager to lead our construction projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing overall management direction for multiple projects, estimating work packages, and developing new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and maintain key field positions through department heads or trade managers
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policy and client direction
  • Act as liaison with prime clients and architect/engineer contacts to facilitate construction activities
  • Assist in estimating specific work packages as they arise
  • Monitor and control construction through administrative direction of on-site supervision to ensure projects are built on schedule and within budget
  • Investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures
  • Represent the company in project meetings and assist in strategy meetings
  • Review project tracking reports to monitor productivity and labor utilization
  • Create and maintain internal project schedules
  • Prepare complete, accurate, and timely submittal logs for construction projects based on project drawings and specifications
  • Accountable for receiving approved submittals from architects or engineers and notifying project superintendents of potential schedule impact
  • Prepare all necessary backup relating to change requests
  • Responsible for timely completion of all required project close-out documents per contract
  • Distribute contract documents to subcontractors, including drawings, specifications, and general conditions
  • Include any accepted alternatives or addendums with documents
  • Distribute final requirement documentation to subcontractors
  • Schedule all required construction meetings with required personnel, subcontractors, architects, and owners
  • Attend owner/architect pre-bid, project, and close-out meetings
  • Solicit subcontractors and suppliers for proposals prior to submission deadlines
  • Prepare correspondence with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, etc.
  • Submit building permit applications, follow up on review progress, and receive upon approval
  • Submit check requests to finance for associated fees according to check request procedures
  • During the construction phase, proactively manage projects to achieve quality, schedule, budget, and safety
  • Maintain customer relationships and conduct project meetings
  • Ensure prompt payment from customers and timely disbursement to subcontractors and suppliers in accordance with agreements
  • Document quality and progress of each subcontractor and supplier
  • Update subcontractors and suppliers of any changes to plans, specifications, and/or schedules
  • Inform management of productivity, costs, quality control, document management, and processing of applications for payment
  • Notify management of any issues affecting quality, budget, progress, and safety
  • Monitor staffing needs, evaluate performance, and address employee relation issues as warranted for staff
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a minimum 8 years of project management experience and/or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
  • Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Project (or other scheduling tools)
  • Ability to make decisions and recommendations impacting corporate relationships with clients on projects managed
  • Ability to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
  • Ability to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screens and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required
  • Ability to adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Ability to be available and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned, including working varying schedules

Work Environment:

  • May work in varying temperatures, both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
  • May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, including dust
  • May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

Physical Demands:

  • While performing duties of the job, the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
