Responsibilities:

This position will report to the project site 100% of the time. We are looking to expand our finance team to support multi-million, multi-year large-scale construction projects. The successful candidate will perform the following activities daily/periodically:

  • Project Cost Control:
    • Engage with the project management team to develop accurate budgets and manpower forecasts for multi-year construction projects.
    • Monitor and control indirect costs by performing budget-to-actual analysis on a weekly basis, identifying and eliminating root causes for variances.
    • Establish accurate cash flow forecasts to ensure the project remains cash-positive throughout its duration, monitoring monthly to ensure the forecast remains accurate and the job stays cash-positive.
    • Ensure accurate and timely complex multi-million cost-plus billing submissions on a monthly basis.
  • Project Procurement Planning:
    • Lead procurement planning efforts for the project, working closely with the project management team to develop a detailed procurement plan for the project after award, ensuring compliance and logistics are included in the plan.
    • Help the project team procure the job according to plan before 20% completion.
    • Perform monthly analysis of actual purchases versus plan, ensuring acceptable justification prior to adjusting the plan.
  • Work Breakdown Structure:
    • Assist the project management team in establishing a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) at the time of award.
    • Assist with maintaining WBS responsibilities at the project level.
    • Ensure WBS is maintained throughout the project duration.
  • Project Controls:
    • Assist the project team with monthly financial forms:
      • Provide cost analysis and require explanation of variances from the project team.
      • Help the project management team prepare monthly financial forms for review with management.
      • Ensure acceptable justification for all found variances (fades/gains).
Experience:

The incumbent must have between two and four years of related experience.

  • Knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Attention to detail in completing work tasks.
  • Strong organization, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Use of accounting principles to solve problems.
Education:

Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with 2-4 years of experience.

Desired Qualities:

We're looking for a self-starter who can meet deadlines and manage multiple projects. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently on given assignments and ask questions as needed. Eagerness to learn and advance their career within the company is a must.

Location/Travel:

This position is based in South Hill, VA, with occasional travel to HQ at Tysons, VA, and other project sites.
