Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated full-time front desk representative to join our team at University Hospitals Urgent Care.

The schedule is flexible, requiring availability for three shifts per week, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Position Summary

The Patient Service Representative serves as the initial contact for patients, facilitating their interaction with our clinical team. Responsibilities include patient check-in, insurance verification, collection of co-pays, and various administrative tasks essential for a smooth operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients and provide clear instructions to visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Evaluate health insurance benefits, confirm eligibility, and communicate relevant payment policies and billing processes.
  • Ensure the reception area is well-maintained and welcoming.
  • Perform clerical duties while adhering to established protocols.
  • Assess and collect each patient's financial obligations.
  • Support the practice manager and collaborate with other staff as needed.
  • Assist in overall office operations and provide support to physicians.
  • Gather and record patient history accurately.
  • Understand and uphold healthcare regulatory standards.
  • Safeguard patient and business documents while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Execute general administrative tasks as required.
  • Document all medical interventions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
  • May be required to travel to other locations to assist staff.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred experience of at least one year in a medical office or emergency room environment.
  • Experience in urgent care settings is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Availability to work three days a week from 8 am to 8 pm, including weekends and holidays.
  • Familiarity with insurance eligibility and co-pay processes is essential. Certification and experience as a medical assistant are advantageous but not required.
