Male Specimen Collection Specialist

Job Overview:
As a vital member of Millennium Health, the Male Specimen Collection Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and reliable specimen collection for our laboratory services. This position is essential in providing exceptional care and service to patients and healthcare providers alike.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct urine and oral fluid (saliva) specimen collections from male patients.
- Manage the processing and packaging of specimens for transport.
- Act as a liaison between healthcare practices and the laboratory.
- Document patient details, physician orders, and relevant laboratory information.
- Address any specimen-related concerns regarding billing or patient information.
- Maintain an inventory of collection supplies on-site.
- Ensure proper observation during specimen collection as required.
- Travel between multiple facilities may be necessary, including occasional overnight assignments.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 6 months of experience in specimen collection or over 1 year in a medical support role.
- At least 2 years of customer service experience may substitute for medical experience.
- Proficiency in using smartphones and computers.
- Preferred experience in phlebotomy.
- A valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of medical billing and familiarity with medications and diagnostic codes is advantageous.
- Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and confidentiality standards.
- Ability to adhere to administrative, physical, and technical cybersecurity protocols.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Physical capabilities: predominantly sitting (90%), with some walking (5%) and standing (5%), and the ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
