Work Schedule: To be determined

This role is suitable for individuals with a background in phlebotomy, emergency medical services, or medical assisting, requiring knowledge in specimen collection, processing, and various diagnostic tests.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood and urine samples from patients while ensuring accurate patient identification.
  • Guide patients through specific procedures, including fasting and specimen collection protocols.
  • Assess the quality of specimens and confirm proper labeling.
  • Verify patient information in the Electronic Health Record system for accurate identification.
  • Provide clear communication to patients regarding their inquiries and necessary information.
  • Complete all required documentation for laboratory tests.
  • Follow universal precautions while handling specimens and interacting with patients.
  • Calibrate testing equipment prior to patient use.
  • Explain testing procedures to patients, including EKGs and drug screening.
  • Monitor patients and equipment during testing.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of back-office equipment according to guidelines.
  • Respect patient confidentiality and privacy rights.
  • Foster effective communication with colleagues and supervisors to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training for professional development.
  • Assist in inventory management to meet departmental needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, or EMT

Preferred:

  • One year of experience in a clinical or laboratory setting
  • Associate degree in a relevant field
