Role Overview

The Financial Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in enhancing efficiencies within the finance and accounting division. This position supports the Controller in managing financial accounting and reporting duties, along with overseeing accounts payable and receivable, treasury functions, cash flow management, taxation, and audit processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management Duties
  • Oversee daily financial and accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Assist the Controller in ensuring adherence to all regulatory and treasury reporting, licenses, permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the accurate execution of operational taxes and reporting documentation.
  • Manage audit processes, investigate accounting issues impacting GAAP, and implement solutions.
  • Validate posted transactions, reconcile general ledger and bank accounts, and address variances to ensure timely and accurate data.
  • Supervise credit card transactions and expense report reimbursements.
  • Develop, implement, and uphold policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close with comprehensive reports and analyses for assigned areas.
  • Effectively manage treasury and cash flow forecasting, including the preparation of cash flow statements, management of receivables and payables, cash balances, control mechanisms, and timely deposits.
  • Post invoices to JD Edwards and troubleshoot issues.
  • Credit and Risk Oversight
  • Supervise credit approvals and account updates.
  • Monitor and manage bad debts and write-offs.
  • Handle bankruptcy accounts, including filing claims and reclamations as necessary.
  • Build and maintain relationships with other departments to determine appropriate actions for seriously delinquent accounts.
  • Support the development and accountability of company controls.
  • Leadership and Development
  • Lead and mentor finance and accounting professionals by developing existing team members and recruiting top talent.
  • Engage in hands-on problem-solving and detailed analysis.
  • Provide strategic oversight and tactical involvement, guiding teams through critical project phases and resolving operational bottlenecks.
  • Delegate finance and accounting tasks to foster the development of direct reports.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Encourage collaboration and a unified team spirit.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives
  • Analyze and critique variances to budget from the previous year, proposing practical improvement methodologies to management.
  • Assess financial data and operations to assist in achieving the organization’s financial objectives.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives utilizing LEAN Management principles.
  • Evaluate internal controls for compliance in all financial and accounting areas.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years of accounting experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory or management experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly skilled in mathematics, accounting, and financial processes
  • Excellent time management, critical thinking, organizational, and detail-oriented skills
  • Strong focus on process improvement to enhance efficiencies and mitigate risks
  • Prior experience with JDE or similar enterprise-level systems
  • Advanced technical skills in Microsoft Office
  • Commitment to continuous learning and process enhancement
  • Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Capacity to handle confidential information, lead teams, delegate tasks, and assertively manage responsibilities
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or CMA certification
  • Experience in Public Accounting

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Primarily an office/desk position utilizing a computer and telephone
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally
  • Must be available to work regular business hours, with occasional requirements for non-business hours
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without direct supervision, handling deadlines, confidential information, and interruptions effectively
