Overview

The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector is on the lookout for a Vice President of Application Modernization Strategy. This leadership role is critical in steering the growth and effectiveness of our Application Modernization Practice Area.

POSITION SUMMARY:
As the Vice President of Application Modernization, you will be instrumental in defining and executing our strategy for application modernization, ensuring alignment with both internal and external client needs. Your expertise will guide clients through innovative modernization solutions, thereby enhancing their operational efficiency and supporting their digital transformation initiatives.

SECURITY CLEARANCE:
No initial clearance is necessary to commence; however, the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance is required. (US Citizenship is mandatory)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Strategic Direction:

  • Formulate and implement a comprehensive application modernization strategy that aligns with client objectives.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in application modernization, with a focus on low code/no code solutions, cloud transitions, and Everything as Code (EaC).
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to establish the vision and strategic roadmap for the Application Modernization Practice.

2. Team Leadership:

  • Guide, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of application modernization specialists, cloud engineers, software developers, and consultants.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration and high performance within the practice.
  • Ensure team members are equipped with the necessary tools and support to thrive.

3. Client Interaction:

  • Engage with clients to assess their application modernization needs and challenges.
  • Provide expert advice on modernization strategies, including cloud adoption and enterprise platforms.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor.

4. Solution Architecture:

  • Design and architect application modernization solutions that adhere to industry standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend enterprise platforms, low code/no code solutions, and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative modernization offerings, leveraging AI/ML to enhance development processes.

5. Business Development:

  • Drive revenue growth by expanding the application modernization service portfolio.
  • Identify new business opportunities and contribute to strategic business development initiatives.
  • Monitor market dynamics and adjust strategies to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
  • Meet and exceed sales targets while leading a sales team with guidance and motivation.

6. Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure compliance with security and governance standards.
  • Oversee quality assurance measures for modernization projects.
  • Mitigate risks associated with platform implementation and modernization efforts.

7. Industry Leadership:

  • Stay updated on advancements in the application modernization sector.
  • Conduct training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in industry events to share insights and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in Enterprise Application Migration/Modernization or related technology.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms, containerization, microservices, and low code/no code solutions.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar are advantageous.
