We are looking for an experienced executive to spearhead a team focused on the planning, communication, and execution of Verisign's public affairs objectives and strategies. This Vice President role will oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive plan to cultivate a robust network within governmental circles for the company. This includes fostering relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies, Congressional offices, and relevant industry groups to advocate for the company's interests. The position will also involve conducting research and analysis on critical policy issues and their potential implications for the organization. Key areas of focus will encompass various aspects of technology and internet policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with government and industry leaders to shape public policy, track governmental and regulatory developments that may pose opportunities or risks to the organization, and advocate for specific initiatives to further the company's goals.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders in government, industry, community, and regulatory agencies; design and implement effective advocacy strategies.
  • Partner with senior leadership to develop consistent and cohesive policy positions on a range of issues impacting the organization's operations.
  • Provide regular briefings to Verisign's Executive Leadership Team and other business leaders to facilitate consensus on the development of company strategy and business plans.
  • Advise senior management on the implications of internet policy and its effects on Verisign.
  • Lead a team engaged in policy and public affairs work, ensuring alignment of their efforts with the company's strategies and objectives.
  • Recruit, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient functioning of the public affairs department.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with both domestic and international government agencies and influencers.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, program management expertise, excellent presentation abilities, and a proven capacity to navigate complex organizational structures.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop relationships at all organizational levels and with critical external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to foster cross-functional teams, make independent decisions, and collaborate effectively to achieve specific objectives.
  • Familiarity with ICANN or other internet standards organizations, as well as various governmental and intergovernmental bodies' governance and legislative processes.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team while maintaining composure under pressure.
