Position Summary
The Manager of Crisis Communication Strategies will be an integral part of a team dedicated to enhancing McDonald's resilience and capacity to safeguard and enhance our brand reputation on a global scale. Reporting directly to the Director of Crisis Communications, this role encompasses a variety of responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing comprehensive rapid response communication strategies, including paid, earned, and owned media, as well as crafting media statements, FAQs, and external communications materials.
  • Facilitating the creation of communication resources to keep internal stakeholders and team members well-informed.
  • Managing daily inquiries directed to the global press office and collaborating across departments to formulate responses.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in media relations and external affairs within cross-functional communication response teams.
  • Providing strategic counsel to senior leadership regarding reputational risks and emerging trends, along with actionable recommendations for response plans.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with a network of media professionals covering the brand and industry.
  • Preparing and training senior leaders and subject matter experts for media engagements and briefings.
  • Collaborating with the Global Communications Measurement and Insights team to monitor and analyze emerging issues, utilizing data to inform responses and assess the effectiveness of communication efforts.
  • Creating best practices and training resources to enhance the crisis communication skills of internal business partners.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in crisis communications.
  • Experience in rapid response communications within an agency, corporate environment, or political campaign.
  • Knowledge of data security, litigation communications, and geopolitical issues is advantageous.
  • Extensive communications expertise with a global perspective, covering both external and internal audiences.
  • Experience collaborating with legal teams on corporate litigation communications.
  • Strong media relations skills.
  • Experience serving as a spokesperson with various media outlets.
  • A comprehensive understanding of business finance and strategy, with the ability to leverage communications to support organizational goals.
  • Exceptional storytelling abilities, with strong writing and editing skills.
