Crisis Intervention Specialist Role

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a committed Crisis Intervention Specialist to deliver urgent assessment, stabilization, and connection services to individuals experiencing crises. The primary objective is to alleviate symptoms, stabilize the individual, and help them regain their previous level of functioning. In this role, you will be instrumental in guiding individuals towards their recovery journey.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform assessments to determine socio-emotional requirements.
  • Provide crisis intervention services aimed at evaluating and stabilizing individuals, focusing on immediate symptom alleviation and restoration of functioning.
  • Deliver immediate mental health support or coordinate referrals and consultations with other mental health professionals.
  • Develop culturally sensitive crisis, discharge, and linkage plans customized for each individual.
  • Assess suitable services based on the Level of Care Utilization System for Psychiatric and Addiction Services (LOCUS).
  • Offer provisional DSM 5 diagnoses.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team, including clinical supervisors, nurses, psychiatrists, and fellow crisis intervention specialists.
  • Foster positive relationships with law enforcement, human service organizations, healthcare providers, and the community.
  • Ensure adherence to documentation, timelines, and organizational policies.
  • Participate in all mandatory clinical meetings and training sessions.
  • Execute any additional responsibilities assigned by supervisors.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Must possess qualifications as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).
  • A minimum of three years' experience in psychiatric emergency settings or crisis intervention environments.
  • Strong understanding of the DSM V criteria and relevant mental health regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other pertinent software applications.
