Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately registers patients and inputs their information into the system, ensuring a respectful and confidential interaction with each individual.
- Verifies that the patient's consent is obtained, documents Medicare messages as necessary, and ensures completion of the Medicare Questionnaire, providing patients with essential rights and policy information.
- Facilitates the establishment of payment plans for patients in alignment with hospital guidelines.
- Assists patients in filling out financial assistance applications to support their needs.
- Handles patient transfers and dismissals in a professional manner.
- Reviews and confirms incomplete Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) forms daily, coordinating with the appropriate clerks for follow-up.
- Manages incoming calls through the switchboard, directing them to the correct departments within the facility.
- Addresses patient inquiries regarding their accounts, aiding in the consolidation of accounts and setting up payment arrangements.
- Processes payments via cash, check, or credit card, both in-person and over the phone.
- Ensures compliance with current infection control protocols for patients and visitors.
- Maintains an environment that meets the standards set by governing bodies.
- Engages in duties that may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens and ensures safety protocols are followed.
- Promotes patient and staff safety through the application of safety tools and protocols.
- Regular attendance at the designated work location is essential.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with basic accounting and computer skills.
- Must be at least 19 years old to sign legal documents.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various reports and regulations, while providing excellent customer service.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required within six months of employment.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Proficient problem-solving skills, with the ability to think analytically and logically.
- Capable of producing professional-level reports and correspondence.
- Ability to respond promptly to inquiries and complaints from patients and regulatory agencies.
- Effective communication skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Skilled in organizing and presenting information clearly to various audiences.
- Completion of required training on standard precaution protocols is necessary.
- Operates in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or environmental factors.
- Spends a significant portion of time at a desk, engaging in writing and computer work, requiring fine motor skills.
- May involve the handling of boxes weighing up to 36 pounds and transporting them as needed.
- This position does not include management responsibilities.
