Job Title: Director of Health Information Management

Lexington Regional Health Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Health Information Management to lead our Health Information Management Department. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of patient health information.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate reimbursement functions and activities with Financial Services, ensuring timely and accurate billing and reimbursement.
  • Assign and review diagnostic and procedure codes to patient records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Review medical records for completeness and medical necessity, applying electronic deficiencies as necessary.
  • Exercise responsibility for HIPAA Compliance Plan, ensuring adherence to privacy standards and regulations.
  • Respond to subpoenas and court orders for protected health information, analyzing authorizations and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports to regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Prepare and coordinate the monthly Medical Staff meeting, recording meeting minutes and ensuring effective communication.
  • Serve on various committees as assigned, contributing to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the Health Information Management Department, ensuring effective resource allocation.
  • Review and update policies and procedures as necessary, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and effective operation of the Health Information Management Department.
Requirements:
  • Associate Degree with credentials of RHIA or RHITT, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the health information management field.
  • Basic Life Support certification via American Heart Association, required within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
  • Works in a normal office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, etc.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions, with a requirement for auditory ability sufficient to hear the telephone and normal conversations.
  • Requires significant time at a desk, with fine motor coordination and ability to transport paper and other materials as necessary.
Management Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the Health Information Management Assistant Director, medical coders, and clerks, providing guidance and oversight to ensure effective departmental operations.
