Position Overview

The Civil Engineering Project Coordinator is responsible for producing detailed CAD drawings, including site layouts and surface models, for various construction initiatives. This role involves supporting Project Managers and Estimators with earthwork calculations and material take-offs for bidding purposes, while also managing CAD files and collaborating with design firms for GPS field layout and grading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize AutoCAD to transform engineering CAD/PDF drawings into functional documents (DXF files) for GPS and construction machinery, prepare as-built CAD drawings, create surface models, calculate cut/fill quantities, and assist with GPS localization.
  • Develop comprehensive construction DXF, surface, and point files, anticipating project needs and deliverables.
  • Review CAD and PDF drawings from design firms to ensure accuracy in survey control and point data.
  • Generate control point files for GPS layout and localization.
  • Assist survey field teams with data management tasks.
  • Oversee construction project CAD files, ensuring all updates are accurately tracked and reflected in the field.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and other engineering tasks to support cost estimation processes.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for the Civil Engineering Project Coordinator role will possess:

  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering infrastructure projects, including paving, concrete, water, sewer, grading, drainage, and utilities, with the ability to interpret consultant drawings and reports.
  • An Associate degree in Computer Drafting or Engineering Technology, along with two years of relevant experience in CAD, estimating, land surveying, or field operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is highly preferred, with five years of relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of three years of AutoCAD experience in civil projects is strongly desired, with a preference for AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Familiarity with estimating software such as Bid2Win and Agtek Earthworks is advantageous.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
