Position Overview

The Civil/Environmental Engineer will report to a project manager and engage in a diverse range of projects, including residential developments, commercial structures, healthcare facilities, solar energy installations, and extensive industrial sites. Many of these initiatives require innovative approaches to environmentally sensitive regions.

Your Contributions

At SME, the Civil/Environmental Engineer will have the unique opportunity to work on various tasks, such as:

  • Engineering and design activities
  • Preparation of technical documentation and detailed design specifications
  • Facilitating permitting processes, document preparation, and public presentations
  • Overseeing or managing construction activities

Additionally, you will be expected to:

  • Exhibit strong organizational skills to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member and develop practical, cost-efficient solutions for our clients.

As the Civil/Environmental Engineer, you will work closely with SME's multidisciplinary staff and interact with clients, regulatory bodies, and the public. Therefore, strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential. At SME, we prioritize building and maintaining positive, long-term relationships with all stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Internship or coursework experience in civil/environmental engineering is advantageous
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and stormwater modeling software is beneficial
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial.
