Position Overview:
As a Chief Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe operation, upkeep, and repair of mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Schedule and coordinate vendor activities for repairs, maintenance, and installations.
2. Provide direction and oversight to vendors, ensuring quality and compliance with standards.
3. Foster professional relationships with vendors to enhance service quality and responsiveness.
4. Guide inspectors through property and mechanical systems to ensure compliance.
5. Maintain a variety of mechanical equipment, ensuring it operates efficiently to prevent breakdowns.
6. Inspect and verify that maintenance and repair work meets specifications.
7. Educate colleagues on mechanical operations, maintenance, and repair protocols.

Operational Duties:
Adjust manual controls or override automatic systems to maintain equipment within prescribed operating ranges. Ensure that maintenance and service records are accurately updated.

Safety Practices:
Implement safe work practices, including the proper handling of chemicals, lockout/tagout procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment. Ensure tools are well-maintained and stored securely.

Emergency Response:
Respond to mechanical and environmental emergencies, directing staff and vendors as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED; a degree or associate's degree in Engineering may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Certifications: Grade 3 Stationary Engineering License/Boiler Operation Engineer or higher, HVAC Certification, Electrical Certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 20 years in commercial operations, maintenance, and mechanical repair with a strong mechanical aptitude.

Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated leadership capabilities, ability to work at heights, proficiency with manual and power tools, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to process improvement. Must be adaptable to various weather conditions and able to respond to emergencies beyond regular hours.
