Job Summary

The 61st Street Service Corp is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Office Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our administrative staff, you will be responsible for ensuring a seamless patient experience from arrival to departure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors with a warm and welcoming demeanor.
  • Register patients efficiently, collecting all necessary information for a smooth check-in process.
  • Schedule appointments, follow-up appointments, and procedures with precision and attention to detail.
  • Review schedules weekly to ensure accuracy and make any necessary adjustments.
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations prior to appointments.
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding financial information, such as explanation of charges and out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Collect payments and settle the cash drawer daily.
  • Answer patient phone calls promptly and resolve inquiries within the same call.
  • Ensure seamless call transfers and route inquiries to the correct party for resolution.
  • Initiate patient registration in EPIC as needed, including demographics, insurance information, and physician care team details.
  • Provide cross-coverage as directed by Supervisor/Manager.
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new staff as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency required; associate's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Experience with EPIC or other EHR systems preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask with consistent follow-through.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification and authorizations.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, including emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, and empathy.
