Purchasing Coordinator Job Description

The City of Saratoga Springs NY is seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Coordinator to join our team in the Department of Public Works. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting with all purchasing activities and advising on purchasing matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in obtaining quotes and generating Request for Proposals (RFPs) for the Department of Public Works.
  • Order supplies, materials, and services from vendors for the Department of Public Works.
  • Compile reports and maintain records related to purchasing activities.
  • Work under the general supervision of the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Public Works, and direct supervision from the Department of Public Works Business Manager.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Business or a business-related field.
  • OR Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's Degree in Business or related field and TWO (2) years of full-time clerical, office, and/or purchasing experience.
  • OR Graduation from High School or equivalency diploma and SIX (6) years of full-time clerical, office, and/or purchasing experience.
