The QUIKRETE Companies is a leader in the manufacturing of construction materials, offering a wide range of products for infrastructure, commercial, and residential projects. We are currently in search of a Senior Buyer to join our team. This role will be pivotal in executing our procurement strategies, negotiating supplier contracts, and ensuring the efficient delivery of materials while optimizing costs.

This position requires in-office attendance five days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and select suppliers, soliciting bids and quotes for purchases within designated authority limits.
  • Assess and analyze bids, documenting vendor pricing, payment conditions, and delivery schedules.
  • Respond to system prompts for material requests from production facilities, managing expectations for timely delivery and coordination with logistics.
  • Issue Purchase Orders for raw materials within assigned categories.
  • Oversee and monitor inventory levels at suppliers and plant locations, assisting with physical inventory checks as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager to evaluate vendor performance and ensure product quality, initiating corrective actions when necessary.
  • Support accounting and purchasing processes, including product receipt, inventory transfers, invoice reviews, and proof of delivery documentation.
  • Engage with vendors to gather product and service information, conducting value analyses and assessing quality, pricing, and delivery terms.
  • Resolve conflicts between vendors and internal users, issuing emergency purchase authorizations as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to proper documentation practices.
  • Interpret and apply departmental policies and relevant specifications governing purchasing activities.
  • Ensure data integrity across systems, including ERP and EDI data, and assist in resolving discrepancies.
  • Coordinate the addition of new items to the ERP system, ensuring accurate descriptions and classifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
  • A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of five years of substantial experience in procurement for a large organization.
  • Experience in reviewing purchasing documents to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, as well as preparing and evaluating product specifications.
  • Knowledge of purchasing principles, including ethics, standards, competitive bidding, and quality control.
  • Ability to analyze data, conduct studies, and make informed recommendations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time.
  • Experience with J.D. Edwards software.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is a plus.
