About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Inpatient Phlebotomist to join our team at CentraState Healthcare System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients in various hospital settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood specimens from patients through venipuncture, capillary fingerstick, or heelstick
  • Obtain blood according to lab policy and procedure with minimal bruising to patients
  • Label tubes at the patient bedside and initials
  • Draw routine, STAT, and ALERT specimens
  • Maintain 100% compliance with positive patient identification
  • Respond to various ALERTS throughout the hospital campus
  • Assist in the specimen processing area when not on the floor or responding to alerts
  • Use various computer applications
  • Practice universal precautions at all times
  • Respect patient confidentiality
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred (Inpatient)
  • Three years' experience as ASCP-certified phlebotomy technician preferred (Outreach)
  • Certification preferred
  • Proficient computer skills required for registering patients and ordering lab tests
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team
