Hotel Front Desk Agent Position

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Hotel Front Desk Agent is a pivotal role in ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience for all guests. This position requires availability for 2-3 shifts weekly, specifically on weekends.

SUPERVISION:

  • Reports directly to the General Manager.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in the English language.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and hospitality software is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Skilled in multitasking and managing several responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Good hearing and vision, with or without corrective lenses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of hotel services.
  • Welcomes guests warmly and manages the registration process.
  • Understands reservation and billing systems thoroughly.
  • Maintains and oversees room inventory and availability.
  • Familiar with hotel credit policies.
  • Handles guest mail and packages appropriately.
  • Utilizes emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Manages safety deposit boxes securely.
  • Conducts inventory checks and restocks supplies as needed.
  • Completes guest checkout procedures efficiently.
  • Balances departmental accounts and prepares necessary documentation.
  • Ensures security of guest keys and cash drawer; performs cash counts at shift end.
  • Monitors guest accounts for unusual activity and reports to supervisors.
  • Conducts detailed shift audits and reconciles daily work with computer records.
  • Keeps the front desk area organized and presentable.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • PROFESSIONAL APPEARANCE: Adherence to grooming standards as outlined in the associate handbook.
  • LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: Ability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence; capable of writing basic correspondence and effectively communicating in small group settings.
  • MATH SKILLS: Competence in basic calculations and algebraic concepts.
  • PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and address issues involving multiple variables.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Regularly required to sit, use hands for typing and handling objects, and communicate with guests. Occasionally required to stand and walk, with the ability to lift or move up to 35 pounds.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: Typically moderate noise levels in a high-traffic business setting, with a majority of time spent at the front desk.
