Job Summary:

The University of Denver is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support the USIP Escaping Project. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate student to gain hands-on experience in research and project implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting research on ethnicity, pluralism, democracy, and peacebuilding in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
  • Work closely with Korbel administrative staff to implement project financial, travel, and administrative support.
  • Provide rapporteur experience and skills in an international conference environment.
  • Collaborate with senior scholars and researchers in major institutions and international organizations.

Requirements:

  • Current Korbel graduate student enrolled for the 24-25 academic year, located in the Denver area.
  • Knowledge and experience of peacebuilding and social-cohesion engagements in contexts affected by conflict, including the role of international development actors.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • This position is eligible for a federal work-study, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office.
  • This position is also open to non-work study funded students.
  • Students will be paid $21/hr with the opportunity for yearly increases, dependent on performance.
  • In compliance with Colorado's Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
