As an Outside Plant Construction Manager, you will oversee intricate, multi-disciplinary projects. Your role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders to define project requirements and guiding initiatives through the complete project lifecycle. This encompasses coordinating timelines, identifying potential risks, and effectively communicating objectives to all project participants. You will be tasked with leading our engineering partners to deliver high-quality, constructible engineering outputs. Flexibility and the capacity to excel in uncertain situations are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively initiate new strategies for enhancing the network design process and collaborate across departments to establish priorities.
- Lead programs across various product domains, demonstrating leadership and influence among teams.
- Develop and manage the engineering design workflow to expedite Fiber to the Home (FTTH) designs, ensuring the creation of highly constructible job packages through to final as-built completion.
- Oversee the workload and output of engineering vendors to meet critical deadlines.
- Establish and uphold a high standard of quality control for the design process, including prompt troubleshooting and innovative problem-solving for any identified equipment or design challenges. Manage the creation of efficient designs for new developments, network relocations, and upgrades.
- Provide comprehensive support for network deployment and collaborate with other cross-functional teams.
- Address quality concerns with engineers and field teams to identify solutions.
- Approve designs prior to submission to clients.
- Ensure adherence to engineering quality and compliance with outside plant design specifications.
- Accurately represent new construction route opportunities, identifying, researching, and resolving cable path and placement issues while effectively communicating solutions to the engineering team.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control for various OSP components, including identifying issues, researching potential solutions, proposing corrective actions, and tracking updates until project completion.
- Manage documentation such as Bill of Materials (BOM), Splice Sheets (SS), Fiber Construction Drawings, Permit Drawings, and Single Line Drawings (SLD).
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- A minimum of five years of experience with FTTH infrastructure.
- Experience in constructing new outside and inside plant (OSP/ISP) fiber infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), 3-GIS, and AutoCAD drafting.
- In-depth knowledge of Fiber Optic network equipment, various OSP architectures, splice operations, configurations, and overall system design.
- Experience in BOM creation, including material research for diverse markets and OSP architectures.
- Familiarity with SS creation and the ability to identify SS issues arising at various design stages.
- Capability to create and review Fiber Construction Drawings for different architectures.
- Understanding of ROW/easements for various municipalities and experience with local utility permitting processes.
- Knowledge of SLD creation for F1 and F2 level projects.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Google G-Suite, including Drive, Docs, Sheets, Drawings, and Presentations.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Working knowledge of Google Earth/Maps.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent projects from business, product, and technical perspectives.
- Excellent time management skills.
- $30-$35/hr plus mileage reimbursement.
