Department Overview

The Gas Operations division is dedicated to ensuring the secure and dependable delivery of natural gas to our clientele. This division encompasses all facets of gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance, construction, restoration, and emergency response.

The Gas Portfolio Management Crossbore Team within Gas Operations is responsible for overseeing contractor-executed and applicant-installed work. This team guarantees that projects are executed safely and efficiently, with clear objectives, proper authorizations, procedures, and documentation, while maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders.

Position Summary

The ideal candidates will manage a regional gas and/or electric distribution scheduling and analytics team, ensuring that all contractor-executed distribution and applicant-installed projects are sufficiently staffed and that inspection and documentation comply with all standards and procedures. A robust background in distribution scheduling, analytics, inspection, construction management, and contracting is essential. This role will report to the Manager of Crossbore Inspection and Field Support and collaborate closely with other managers and supervisors on process enhancement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee a regional gas and electric distribution scheduling and data analytics team.
  • Ensure contractor-executed and applicant-installed projects are adequately scheduled and meet all standards.
  • Foster a culture of safety for employees and contractors.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of PG&E gas and electric distribution standards.
  • Support scheduling needs for Crossbore inspection coordinators.
  • Drive project schedules with contractors and internal teams to meet milestones.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to ensure accurate portfolio and milestone dates.
  • Establish relationships with internal teams and external vendors for qualified inspectors.
  • Communicate project documentation effectively through designated platforms.
  • Negotiate change orders and advise project managers on costs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in utility, maintenance, construction, or operations.
  • Valid California driver's license or ability to obtain one.
  • Subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management.
  • 5+ years of experience in gas or electric distribution construction.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Unifier, ProntoForms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven skills in cost accounting and contract administration.
  • Knowledge of gas pipeline and electric substructure standards.
