Department Overview

Gas Operations is dedicated to maintaining the safe and dependable delivery of natural gas to our clients. This department encompasses all facets of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance, construction, restoration, and emergency response.

The PG&E Gas Portfolio Management Crossbore Team is responsible for managing and overseeing contractor-performed and applicant-installed work. This team ensures that projects are executed safely and efficiently, adhering to clear objectives, proper authorizations, procedures, and documentation, while effectively communicating with all stakeholders.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate will lead a regional team focused on gas and electric distribution scheduling and analytics, ensuring that all contractor-performed and applicant-installed projects are sufficiently staffed and that inspection and documentation comply with PG&E standards and procedures. A robust background in distribution scheduling, analytics, inspection, construction management, and contracting is essential. This role will report to the Manager of Crossbore Inspection and Field Support and collaborate closely with other managers and supervisors within the Portfolio Management team to drive process improvements.

This position offers flexibility within the Northern California regions.

This role is hybrid, allowing work from a remote office and the assigned work location based on business needs.

This position is also eligible for PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is provided in good faith based on local market conditions. Actual compensation will be determined by various factors, including skills, education, licenses, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. The estimated salary range is:

Bay Area: $126,000 - $200,000

California: $120,000 - $190,000

Responsibilities

  • Lead a regional team focused on gas and electric distribution scheduling and analytics, ensuring compliance with PG&E standards.
  • Prioritize safety for all employees and contractors, fostering a secure work environment.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of PG&E gas and electric distribution standards.
  • Assist Crossbore inspection coordinators with scheduling to ensure adequate staffing for regional projects.
  • Manage project schedules in collaboration with contractors and internal teams to meet milestones.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to ensure accurate portfolio and milestone dates.
  • Establish relationships with internal teams and external vendors to secure qualified inspectors.
  • Communicate key project documentation through established platforms.
  • Negotiate change orders with contractors and advise project managers on costs.
  • Support the training and development of coordinators to ensure qualified inspectors are prepared for their roles.
  • Conduct project kick-off meetings and coordinate material deliveries.
  • Maintain public safety and ensure compliance with traffic control plans.
  • Monitor daily construction activities to meet safety, quality, cost, and schedule goals.
  • Represent PG&E professionally and ethically in all interactions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in utility, maintenance, construction, or operations.
  • Valid California driver's license or ability to obtain one.
  • Subject to random DOT drug and alcohol testing.
  • Regular travel to project sites is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management.
  • 5 or more years of experience in gas or electric distribution construction.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Unifier, ProntoForms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in cost accounting, inspection, and contract administration.
  • Knowledge of gas pipeline and electric substructure standards.
  • Ability to interpret and validate project schedules and contract documents.
