Department Overview

The Gas Operations division is dedicated to ensuring the secure and dependable delivery of natural gas to our clients. This encompasses all facets of gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance, construction, restoration, and emergency response.

The Gas Portfolio Management Crossbore Team is responsible for overseeing contractor-executed and applicant-installed projects. This team guarantees that projects are executed safely and efficiently, with well-defined objectives, appropriate authorizations, procedures, and documentation, while ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders.

Position Summary

The selected candidates will manage a regional team focused on gas and/or electric distribution scheduling and analytics. They will ensure that all contractor-executed and applicant-installed projects are properly staffed and that inspections and documentation adhere to PG&E standards and procedures. A strong background in scheduling, analytics, inspection, construction management, and contracting is essential. This role will report to the Manager of Crossbore Inspection and Field Support and collaborate closely with other managers and supervisors on process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee a regional scheduling and analytics team for gas and electric distribution projects.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols for public, employees, and contractors.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of PG&E gas and electric distribution standards.
  • Assist Crossbore inspection coordinators with scheduling to ensure adequate staffing of inspectors.
  • Drive project schedules in collaboration with contractors and internal teams.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to maintain accurate project timelines and inspection needs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external vendors for inspection resources.
  • Facilitate communication of project documentation through designated platforms.
  • Negotiate change orders and advise project managers on costs.
  • Support the training and development of coordinators to ensure compliance with qualifications.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in utility, maintenance, construction, or operations.
  • Valid California driver's license or ability to obtain one.
  • Subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to project sites.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management.
  • 5+ years of experience in gas or electric distribution construction.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Unifier, ProntoForms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in cost accounting and contract administration.
  • Knowledge of gas pipeline and electric substructure standards.

This position is subject to Department of Transportation regulations and requires compliance with safety standards.
