Department Overview

Gas Operations is dedicated to ensuring the safe and dependable delivery of natural gas to our clients. This department encompasses all facets of gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance, construction, restoration, and emergency response.

The PG&E Gas Portfolio Management Crossbore Team is responsible for overseeing contractor-performed and applicant-installed work. This team guarantees that projects are executed safely and efficiently, with clear objectives, proper authorizations, and thorough documentation, while ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate will manage a regional team focused on gas and electric distribution scheduling and analytics. This role involves ensuring that all contractor-performed and applicant-installed projects are sufficiently staffed and that inspection and documentation comply with PG&E standards and procedures. A strong background in scheduling, analytics, inspection, construction management, and contracting is essential. This position reports to the Manager of Crossbore Inspection and Field Support and collaborates closely with other managers and supervisors on process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a regional scheduling and analytics team for gas and electric distribution projects, ensuring compliance with PG&E standards.
  • Commit to public, employee, and contractor safety, fostering a safe work environment.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of PG&E gas and electric distribution standards.
  • Assist Crossbore inspection coordinators with scheduling to ensure adequate staffing of inspectors.
  • Drive project schedules with contractors and internal teams to meet milestones.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to ensure accurate portfolio and milestone dates.
  • Maintain relationships with internal teams and external vendors to secure qualified inspectors.
  • Communicate project documentation through established systems.
  • Negotiate change orders with contractors and advise project managers as needed.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to safety, quality, cost, and schedule goals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in utility, maintenance, construction, or operations.
  • Valid California driver's license or ability to obtain one.
  • Subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Regular travel to project sites is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management.
  • 5 or more years of experience in gas or electric distribution construction.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Unifier, ProntoForms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven abilities in cost accounting and contract administration.
  • Knowledge of distribution gas pipeline and electric substructure standards.
