Position Overview:
The Desktop Support Technician plays a crucial role in delivering technical assistance and support to end-users regarding various hardware and software issues. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving problems related to desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other peripherals. The Technician will also be responsible for installing and configuring new hardware and software, as well as providing training and guidance to users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver timely and effective technical support to end-users through various communication channels.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other peripherals.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software.
- Assist in the deployment of new hardware and software solutions.
- Provide training and guidance to end-users on different computer hardware and software.
- Create and maintain documentation regarding technical support procedures.
- Manage inventory of computer hardware and software.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and trends in the IT industry.
- Be adaptable to changes in duties, responsibilities, and activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a desktop support role.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware and software, including Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and antivirus software.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficient in prioritizing and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- CompTIA A+ certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel as necessary.
Work Environment:
- Primarily an office setting.
- May require occasional work outside of standard business hours.
