Overview of the Position

In the capacity of a Lead Business Intelligence Architect, your mission will be to empower data-driven decision-making across the organization by overseeing and enhancing Chime's Looker environment. This role is pivotal in supporting the expansion of cross-functional teams by developing analytical products that yield actionable business insights.

You will also play a crucial role in guiding the Business Intelligence team in the development and implementation of LookML, while providing training to Chime's Looker developers on how to effectively structure and utilize their LookML resources.

The compensation for this position starts at $149,300 and can reach up to $207,300, depending on experience and location. Full-time team members are also eligible for bonuses, an attractive equity package, and comprehensive benefits. The final salary offered may vary based on your skills, qualifications, and experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster a culture centered around data by leveraging your storytelling abilities and expertise in generating insights through reporting and visualizations.
  • Design and develop engaging and user-friendly dashboards and reports utilizing BI tools such as Looker and Amplitude.
  • Communicate complex data insights clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Drive transformation by not only producing insights through visualizations but also articulating your recommendations to various levels of the organization.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to create efficient and optimized data solutions that underpin dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Engage with business stakeholders across Chime to identify their reporting requirements and create tailored reporting products (dashboards, business insights, Looker explores, etc.).
  • Establish best practices for managing our Looker environment.
  • Implement governance, guidelines, code reviews, and access controls to ensure consistency, quality, and confidentiality as we expand our dashboarding capabilities.
  • Utilize scripting languages (such as Python) to automate repetitive tasks.
Qualifications for Success
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; advanced degrees are preferred.
  • Over 5 years of experience in business intelligence engineering, with significant experience in Looker, managing the data infrastructure for visualization platforms (Looker, Tableau, etc.) used by small to medium enterprises.
  • Familiarity with MPP database technologies such as Snowflake or Redshift.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python for automation purposes.
  • Expertise in creating dashboards and visualizations from both a technical standpoint (data and queries) and a narrative perspective.
  • Experience in democratizing data and BI, enabling organizations to access self-service insights.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and lead complex, growth-oriented projects.
  • A commitment to maintaining consistency and quality as dashboards are widely adopted.
  • Experience in developing style guides, conducting code reviews, and establishing governance processes and access controls.
  • Strong SQL skills with a focus on performance optimization; experience in data modeling and data warehousing.
  • Experience collaborating across various organizational levels to prioritize dashboarding needs and align reporting with business objectives.
