The Third Party Response Analytics team is integral to establishing trust with external partners, regulators, and other stakeholders. Our mission is to empower relationship managers at Square to efficiently handle requests through automated tools and insightful reporting. We are in search of a seasoned Business Intelligence Engineering Manager to further enhance the effectiveness of this dynamic team.

This role will involve close collaboration with diverse stakeholders across Square to identify and implement automation opportunities within the data supply chain, ensuring reliability and efficiency. As a leader, you will manage cross-functional relationships, oversee the design and implementation of innovative solutions, and ensure the smooth integration of data processes. Your leadership will be vital in nurturing and developing your team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Visionary Leadership: Proactively shape the vision for Business Intelligence Engineering within a specific product or business area, crafting and executing a strategic plan to realize that vision.
  2. Self-Service Development: Design and maintain a suite of impactful self-service dashboards and visualizations for key stakeholders, facilitating efficient data access and insights.
  3. Operational Excellence: Establish and enforce operational excellence protocols for Business Intelligence Engineering, including project management and system reliability.
  4. Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and expand a high-performing Business Intelligence Engineering team, cultivating a culture of innovation and excellence.
  5. Strategic Collaboration: Work alongside various internal teams, including Product, Legal, Compliance, Data Science, and Customer Operations, to discover and implement data-driven solutions.
  6. Project Management: Supervise individual projects by coordinating with internal data teams, ensuring timely and effective project delivery.
  7. Team Development: Focus on enhancing the skills and capabilities of the broader team, enabling sustainable growth and effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced SQL proficiency: schema and ETL design, query optimization, data pipeline maintenance, and experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Mode).
  • Familiarity with scripting/programming for data mining, modeling, and ETL development (Python preferred).
  • Ability to define a long-term vision and strategy to support external data requests, unlocking critical data visibility and insights.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Analytics, or a related technical field is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering within product/support analytics and business operations.
  • 2+ years of experience in managing teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading engineering teams focused on external data reporting.
  • Experience collaborating with Legal & Counsel stakeholders.
