The Third Party Response Analytics team at Square Inc. is pivotal in establishing trust with our external partners, including regulators and collaborators. Our goal is to enable relationship managers to efficiently handle requests through automated tools and insightful reporting. We are in search of a seasoned Business Intelligence Engineering Manager to further enhance the capabilities of this dynamic team.

In this role, you will engage with various stakeholders across the organization, identifying opportunities to streamline the data supply chain and improve reliability. You will be instrumental in managing cross-departmental relationships, guiding the creation of innovative solutions, and ensuring the smooth integration of data processes. As a leader, you will be responsible for nurturing and developing your team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Vision: Lead the strategic direction for Business Intelligence Engineering within a product or business area, executing a comprehensive plan to realize that vision.
  2. Self-Service Development: Design and maintain a suite of impactful self-service dashboards and visualizations for key stakeholders, facilitating efficient data access and insights.
  3. Operational Excellence: Establish and uphold operational excellence standards for Business Intelligence Engineering, including project management and system reliability.
  4. Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and expand a high-performing Business Intelligence Engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  5. Collaborative Partnerships: Work closely with various internal teams, such as Product, Legal, Compliance, Data Science, and Customer Operations, to develop data-driven solutions.
  6. Project Management: Oversee individual projects by coordinating with internal data teams, ensuring timely and effective execution.
  7. Team Development: Focus on enhancing the skills and capabilities of the broader team, enabling sustainable growth.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced SQL skills: schema and ETL design, query optimization, data pipeline maintenance, and experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Mode).
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming for data mining, modeling, and ETL development (Python preferred).
  • Ability to articulate a long-term vision and strategy for data accessibility to support external requests, unlocking critical insights.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Analytics, or a related technical field is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering within product/support analytics and business operations.
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading engineering teams focused on external data reporting.
  • Familiarity with collaborating with Legal & Counsel stakeholders.
