Position Overview

Director of Risk Management

Full-time, Exempt Role

The Director of Risk Management plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients within the healthcare environment. This position is integral to the operational success of various patient safety initiatives and risk management strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage the claims process, including thorough investigation and analysis.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for new services and programs.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts, ensuring effective action plans are developed and tracked.
  • Facilitate the Patient Safety Council, integrating corporate risk management programs into overall strategies.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and the executive team to implement risk reduction initiatives.
  • Provide expertise in regulatory compliance and standards.
  • Engage in data analysis and reporting to inform decision-making.
  • Educate and lead teams on risk management practices and accountability.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Five to seven years of clinical experience in risk management.
  • A minimum of three years of leadership experience in risk management, preferably in an acute care setting.
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Certification as a Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM).
  • California licensure in the relevant specialty.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) designation.
