Position Overview:

The Leadership and Principal Giving Officer plays a pivotal role within the Institutional Advancement team, acting as a prominent representative for the College. This position is essential in fostering enduring relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, parents, and supporters. Collaborating closely with the Director of Philanthropy, the officer will concentrate on securing significant planned, principal, and leadership contributions to the College, targeting principal gifts of $1 million and above, leadership gifts starting at $100,000, and appropriate planned gifts. The goal is to achieve the College's annual fundraising objectives and establish a robust pipeline for future comprehensive campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage a portfolio of principal, major, and planned gift prospects, conducting visits for qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, leading to annual and major gifts of $100,000 or more.

2. Develop a strategic communication plan for each donor/prospect over a 12- to 24-month period, ensuring effective moves management aligned with team strategies and objectives.

3. Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects annually, focusing on annual, major, and planned gift donors to maximize financial support for the College's capital projects and endowment initiatives.

4. Leverage existing resources and technology to enhance donor engagement and solicitation efforts, utilizing a moves-management donor database and wealth screening tools.

5. Uphold the College's mission and values, fostering relationships with alumni, parents, friends, faculty, and staff to secure commitments for annual and capital campaigns.

6. Document and report on donor/prospect interactions promptly, maintaining accurate records in the College's donor database.

7. Willingness to work outside standard hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary.

8. Collaborate with the College's fundraising team, actively participating in strategic initiatives and targeted solicitation efforts to meet fundraising goals.

9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

10. Travel outside the Chicago area approximately 50% of the time is required for this role.

Required Qualifications:

9. Attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Education and Experience:

A bachelor's degree is required, along with a minimum of seven years of successful fundraising experience in higher education or nonprofit organizations, demonstrating a proven ability to solicit and close major gifts.

Licenses:

A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are necessary.

Employment Conditions:
