Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Counselor to join our team at Tarzana Treatment Centers, Inc. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide individual counseling, group facilitation, and crisis intervention services to patients in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed, utilizing a trauma-informed approach to support patients in crisis.
  • Attend weekly individual and group supervision sessions to ensure ongoing professional development and support.
  • Participate in in-service training and educational workshops to stay up-to-date on best practices in behavioral health.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner, adhering to agency policies and procedures.
  • Exhibit full knowledge and support of the agency's philosophy and objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Administration.
Program-Specific Responsibilities
  • Complete ASAM Assessments and develop Individualized Treatment Plans for patients in the Alcohol and Drug Programs.
  • Participate in Initial and Continuing Case Conferences to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide regular progress note charting in patient records, adhering to JCAHO, State, County, and Agency standards.
  • Facilitate educational groups and process groups as assigned, utilizing approved curriculum.
  • Make direct contact with patients, family members, and outside entities to assist with discharge planning and resolution of legal, financial, housing, medical, and psychiatric issues.
  • Cooperate and communicate fully with other staff members regarding patient behavior, progress, and activities.
  • Interface daily with agency Utilization Review personnel and provide regular reports on patient status.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Enrollment in academic Addictions Studies Program and completion of a minimum of 90 hours of approved instruction
  • Registration with a state-level certification entity (CADTP, CAADE, or CCAPP)
  • 1 year of experience in a behavioral healthcare setting
