Chief Advancement Officer Job Description

The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) is responsible for leading and managing a comprehensive advancement effort in alignment with the University School Of Milwaukee Corporation's mission and strategic priorities. This role involves planning and executing fundraising activities to generate revenue from various sources, including corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and individual donations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve organizational goals
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, including corporate partners and foundation leaders
  • Lead a team of advancement staff, including development officers and event coordinators
  • Oversee the planning and execution of capital campaigns, special events, and other fundraising initiatives
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records and track fundraising results
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, senior leadership, and other departments to achieve fundraising goals
  • Act as a spokesperson for the University School Of Milwaukee Corporation, representing the organization in a professional and positive manner
  • Collaborate with other departments to support overall organizational goals, including marketing, communications, and alumni relations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, such as business, marketing, or non-profit management
  • Minimum of 10 years of fundraising experience, including leadership roles in development and fundraising
  • Experience leading fundraising campaigns and managing a team of development staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive relationships with donors, stakeholders, and colleagues
  • Excellent communication and management skills, with the ability to articulate a compelling case for support
