Position Overview

The Chief Financial Officer is accountable for the strategic oversight of financial planning, budgeting, and asset-liability management. This role is pivotal in ensuring the Credit Union's financial health through effective management of accounting practices, recordkeeping, and compliance with established accounting standards. The CFO will also oversee the investment portfolio and play a key role in the financial and strategic planning processes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Uphold the Credit Union's core values and service standards in all operations.
  2. Exhibit a strong focus on member service in all interactions.
  3. Foster teamwork and collaboration among staff.
  4. Maintain confidentiality of member information.
  5. Promote a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  6. Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the leadership team and present the budget for board approval.
  7. Manage the asset and liability structure in conjunction with the Asset Liability Committee, including:
  8. Chairing and participating as a voting member of the committee.
  9. Engaging in discussions regarding loan and deposit product pricing and preparing monthly ALM reports.
  10. Assessing balance sheet risks and recommending actions related to loans and deposits.
  11. Conducting risk analytics, including stress testing and scenario planning.
  12. Directing the production of the Asset Liability Committee Report.
  13. Ensuring the board and staff are informed of relevant ALM outcomes.
  14. Providing education on ALM techniques to board and staff.
  15. Overseeing the management of the investment portfolio and asset/liability policies.
  16. Formulating and executing short and long-term strategies for balance sheet optimization.
  17. Enhancing financial planning and analytics capabilities to support various organizational needs.
  18. Coordinating CPA audits and state and federal examinations.
  19. Managing the Credit Union's borrowing portfolio.
  20. Supervising the preparation and distribution of financial reports.
  21. Staying informed on financial industry developments and providing insights.
  22. Evaluating financial management tools and techniques for relevance.
  23. Monitoring staffing needs within accounting and finance departments.
  24. Providing leadership and support to team members, fostering their professional development.
  25. Conducting performance evaluations and managing personnel documentation.
  26. Coordinating daily scheduling and monitoring attendance.
  27. Engaging in community service and Credit Union events.
  28. Participating as a voting member of the Commercial/Business Loan Review Committee.


Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, with 10-15 years of financial leadership experience. CPA certification is preferred.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of financial products and services within the credit union sector.
  3. Experience in a large financial institution with assets exceeding $10 billion is advantageous.
  4. Familiarity with Finance Board Committee operations and profitability modeling.
  5. Experience with CFPB regulations is a plus.
  6. Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills.
  7. Willingness to work flexible hours as required by the workload.
  8. Must meet bonding requirements.

Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the President and CEO.

Supervisory Role
This position includes supervisory responsibilities.
