Role Summary:
The Fixed Assets Accountant within our Accounting Shared Services is tasked with the meticulous recording of newly acquired fixed assets, monitoring existing assets, documenting depreciation, and managing the accounting for the disposal of fixed assets, all in alignment with generally accepted accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and validate the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Assess accounts payable invoices to determine the appropriate capitalization or expense treatment in accordance with the Fixed Asset Policy and GAAP.
• Ensure timely recording of disposals and retirements, along with all new assets, including the application of cost segregation studies for capitalizing buildings and improvements, as per the fixed asset policy.
• Engage in Real Estate meetings to gain insights into project status and confirm capitalization dates.

• Compile project costs into Construction in Progress (CIP) accounts and finalize those balances upon project completion.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of fixed asset sub-ledgers to the general ledger, ensuring proper classification of balance sheet activities.
• Provide fluctuation analysis of monthly and quarterly fixed asset activities.
• Assist in the audit process by supplying information to both internal and external auditors on a quarterly and annual basis.
• Support the integration of acquisitions and joint ventures into our financial systems and processes.
• Participate in system implementations, upgrades, patches, and testing.
• Enhance job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and networking within professional organizations.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Contribute to special projects and undertake other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.

Experience:
• Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Preferred experience in fixed asset accounting.
• Strong analytical and time management skills are essential.
• Proficiency in MS Excel is required.
• Experience with large-scale financial systems (e.g., Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP) is preferred.
