Position Overview

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is seeking a dedicated Pediatric Rheumatologist to join our esteemed Pediatrics Division of Allergy/Immunology/Rheumatology. Our institution provides extensive services within a prominent children's hospital, recognized for its advanced care capabilities, including a Level IV NICU and Level 1 PICU. Our team comprises a diverse group of pediatric medical and surgical specialists, serving as a vital referral center for the southeastern region.

We are looking for a full-time faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level. Currently, our division is supported by a board-certified Pediatric Rheumatologist, a dedicated Pediatric Rheumatology nurse, and a clinical studies coordinator. The role involves both inpatient consultations and outpatient clinic management. Candidates with experience in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in allergy/immunology and adult rheumatology are highly encouraged to apply. Our division is actively engaged in research and scholarly activities, collaborating closely with Allergy/Immunology and adult rheumatology services, and participating in significant research initiatives such as the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) and the Pediatric Rheumatology Collaborative Research Group (PRCSG).

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing comprehensive patient care for pediatric populations in both outpatient and inpatient settings, including diagnosis and treatment of various disorders, consultations, acute care, and patient/family education.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Participating in shared emergency call coverage during weekdays and weekends.
  • Mentoring and supervising residents, medical students, and staff, enhancing their educational experience.
  • Conducting training sessions for residents and medical students in relevant areas through didactic and clinical supervision.
  • Engaging in community outreach and educational initiatives at local schools and universities.
  • Contributing to departmental or institutional committees.


Qualifications

Applicants must possess a medical degree from an accredited institution and be board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Rheumatology. A valid state medical license and relevant certifications are required.

Faculty rank will be determined based on experience and qualifications:
  • Assistant Professor: Early career faculty with appropriate postgraduate training.
  • Associate Professor: Mid-career faculty with a minimum of five years at the Assistant Professor level or equivalent experience.
  • Professor: Senior faculty with at least five years at the Associate Professor level or comparable qualifications.


Compensation and Benefits

Rank and salary will be established at the time of hire, taking into account various factors such as experience, education, and specialty.
