Job Summary

The Medical College of Georgia, within the Department of Emergency Medicine, is actively seeking a qualified faculty member for the role of Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician. This position is available at various academic ranks including Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The selected candidate will engage in clinical practice within the Pediatric Emergency Department while also contributing to the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. This role is not designated as tenure track.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties - 84%
  • Provide clinical services in the Pediatric Emergency Department (specific shift requirements apply).
  • Be available for 12 on-call shifts monthly.
  • Internal moonlighting opportunities are permitted in accordance with departmental guidelines.
Academic Duties - 16%
  • Engage in educational initiatives for fellows, residents, and medical students.
  • Participate actively in the education of residents and medical students while managing patient care.
  • Fulfill all core faculty obligations as specified by the Department of Emergency Medicine.
Qualifications

MD/DO or equivalent; completion of a Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship; training in either Emergency Medicine or Pediatrics is required.

Assistant Professor: Early career faculty member with appropriate postgraduate training.

Associate Professor: Mid-career faculty member with a minimum of five years at the Assistant Professor level or equivalent experience.

Professor: Senior faculty member with at least five years at the Associate Professor level or equivalent experience.

All faculty members must meet the employment qualifications set forth by USG institutions, which include:
  • Compliance with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation standards;
  • Demonstrated teaching capabilities;
  • Evidence of scholarly activity and competence in assigned duties;
  • Relevant experience, which may be waived for new entrants into academia meeting other criteria;
  • Desirable personal attributes assessed through interviews and references.
Compensation and Benefits

This position operates on a fiscal year basis, requiring year-round commitment.

The full-time equivalent (FTE) for this role is 1.0, classifying it as full-time employment.

Compensation for the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor ranks will be aligned with education, experience, and accomplishments, subject to fund availability.

Faculty rank and salary will be determined at the time of hire based on various factors including experience, education, credentials, and specialty.
