Position Overview

The Department of Neurology at Augusta University is actively seeking to appoint a full-time faculty member at an open rank, which may include Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The ideal candidate will establish a comprehensive clinical practice in Pediatric Neurology and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, Advanced Practice Providers (APP), and nursing staff within the Department of Neurology. This role is non-tenure track.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in teaching, clinical, and research endeavors within an academic setting alongside pediatric neurologists.
  • Fulfill clinical duties in both the pediatric neurology outpatient clinic and inpatient services.
  • Contribute to educational activities by instructing medical students, mentoring graduate students and trainees, and providing training for pediatric neurology residents and fellows.
  • Develop and lead an independent research program that is externally funded.
  • Participate in professional service, public engagement, and university committees, fostering collaborative relationships with fellow faculty members.


Qualifications Required

MD/DO with completion of an ACGME accredited residency or fellowship in Pediatric Neurology.

Assistant Professor: Early career faculty member with suitable postgraduate training.

Associate Professor: Mid-career faculty member with a minimum of five years at the Assistant Professor level or equivalent experience.

Professor: Senior faculty member with at least five years at the Associate Professor level or equivalent experience.

All candidates must meet the faculty employment qualifications set forth by USG institutions, which include:

Compliance with SACSCOC accreditation standards;Demonstrated teaching capabilities;Evidence of scholarly activity and competence in assigned duties;Successful prior experience (waived for new entrants into academia who meet other criteria); and,Favorable personal attributes assessed through interviews, biographical data, and references.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time position with a fiscal year commitment.

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with education, experience, and accomplishments, subject to funding availability.

Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 13 paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, generous retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more.

Full-time employees with over six months of service may qualify for the Tuition Assistance Program.

Rank and salary will be determined at the time of hire based on various factors, including experience, education, credentials, and market data.

Advancement through faculty ranks is contingent upon the annual Promotion and Tenure process, typically occurring in five-year increments.
