Position Overview

Role: Resident Care Assistant

Classification: Per Diem

Work Schedule: Flexible | No mandatory scheduling

Community Type: Assisted Living | Memory Care

Location: Chelsea, MI

Shift Differentials: Afternoon shift (2:30 pm - 10:30 pm) $1.00 | Night shift (10:31 pm - 7:00 am) $0.75 | Weekend shift (Fri 10:31 pm - Sun 11:00 pm) $1.00

Requirements: Minimum of 5 shifts per month, including 2 weekend shifts. Completion of training within the first 30 days of employment.

Key Responsibilities

The Resident Care Assistant plays a vital role in delivering compassionate daily living support to older adults, following individual service plans.

Daily Living Activities:

  • Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Manage laundry, change bed linens, and maintain cleanliness in resident rooms.
  • Provide dental and oral hygiene care.
  • Safely transfer residents using appropriate mechanical equipment.
  • Serve meals according to dietary requirements.

Communication & Engagement:

  • Establish positive relationships with residents.
  • Interact professionally with residents, families, team members, and visitors.
  • Supervise and facilitate resident activities.
  • Encourage meaningful interactions and participation in group activities.

Mobility & Transportation:

  • Prepare and escort residents to appointments and activities.
  • Assist with lifting, turning, and positioning residents as needed.

Monitoring & Documentation:

  • Adhere to resident service plans meticulously.
  • Communicate any necessary adjustments to care routines.
  • Report changes in resident conditions to supervisors.
  • Accurately measure and document vital signs in electronic records.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a caregiving role is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in assisted living, skilled nursing, or long-term care settings is advantageous.
  • Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs; assistance or equipment is required for heavier loads.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Completion of designated medication assistance training is required.
